Long story short I got bitch-slapped by the art theft nazi's of deviant art. Now to start of I AM NOT A SUPPORTER OF ART THEFT!!! Just let me finish. (NOTE: If your just going to read this to flame me, please don't. I know I'm being petty, I just need to vent)

What happened was that, WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE, my name/icon was posted on the groups blog accusing me of art theft. What pic do you ask? This one [link] that I made for IchiRuki-Club's Tabanta Contest. Now those of you who know my art can tell at first glanced that this was half assed on my part. I was accused of art theft on the basis that I didn't own the frickin' NASA pick of the Andromeda galaxy. I know that and will admit to it, and anyone can tell that I didn't draw it. I was just really sick of the pick and didn't want to go through the hole process of making one, BECAUSE IT WAS FOR A CONTEST! If I was taking any particular pride in it then YES! I would have made a background for it.

But the thing that burns me most is the fact that I feel that my name has been tarnished under false pretenses. I feel that anyone who saw me up there will only think of me as an art thief, and that hurts. I understand that a number of you probably went though art theft, and I can empathize. But that's hardly and excuse to go around publicly executing people. If you need to report an art theft, do it privately between yourself, the artist in question and the DA staff. Don't drag and bunch of venom spitting minions with you. And I think the thing that REALLY got to me was that I got more views on that pic in one day for art theft than I have gotten in one day on ANY OTHER pic I have EVER done that I actually take pride in. HOW DO YOU THINK THAT MAKES ME FEEL AS AN ARTIST? Like shit. Cause the only time I have every gotten that kind of recognition, was as a criminal. They weren't looking at it for enjoyment, but rather having me set up on the rack ready to point fingers and throw rotted fruit at me. And the dumbest thing is that the person who reported me ACTUALLY FAVED THE PIECE!

And I know, I'm probably being WAY too defensive about this, considering that they let me off, but that's the whole thing. Who gave them the authority to do that. It's the whole KEEPING THE DRAMA OFF DA THING!!! All they're doing is creating more. And like I said I checked out their group and I completely agreed with most of their accusations, but some were a pit paranoid to me. And still, it's the way they do it. They can't just be civil and go to the artist personally, they feel the need to go "BLOODY HEAD ON FENCE POST" and "SALEM WITCH TRIALS" on them. Again WITHOUT THEIR KNOWLEDGE!!!

Now some of the pieces that I agreed with was throwing layers of color and texture on scans and screen caps and calling it theirs (though they did credit and link the originals, but apparently that's an issue too -_-) but what also pissed me off was their attack on manga scans. Again, I'll admit to doing those on occasions for either my own enjoyment, color practice, or for the enjoyment of the fans ^_^ And I'm not sure on whether I'm defending this or not, but I don't think there's a problem with that. I DON'T think Tite Kubo and other Manga artist really CARE that their fans are coloring their manga pages. I understand the need to protect budding artist from getting their work stolen, but we are talking about major, successful artist people. I don't think they really care that a couple of teenagers/young adults are coloring their manga pages half a world away!

So all in al I feel like shit right now, because A: I'm afraid that they might come back and suspend me or something; B: I'm debating on going back and redoing that background so I don't get flamed again. C: That my greatest fame on here was because I was thought to be a thief, and I can never get that back; D: I didn't get to do any art this weekend and now I'm super busy so I can't redeem myself to myself;

1) Pick a song from whatever genre that you like and then incorperate that into a picture with an OC of mine (or however may tickels your fancy) as the subject.
2) Pick a movie and draw an OC (or more) of mine as the character(s) of that movie ^_^

RULES:
1) Don't worry about having to drawing them as humans of whatevs, if animals or something else is better for you have at it ^^
2) You can feel free to include other characters in your picture as long as mine are the main focus.
3) You can submit from 1-3 entries
5) This contest is meant to be really open ended so have fun with it and let you creativity show ^^
